Margarita

This painting is based on the real story of Margarita Gracheva, whose husband took her to the forest and chopped off her hands. I used the forest as a background to symbolise the feeling of being lost and hopeless, trying to find the way through a dubious and shadowy system, not seeing a clear way out. Margarita has two sons with the man responsible for her horrors and the judge in charge of this criminal case did not stop the father from seeing his children. I find it ruthless, mocking and even dangerous, because I strongly believe that the father not only traumatised his children but may use this as a reason to use his kids to reach Margarita again when he is free. That is my reason for including the children in the picture. being bound through them to her torturer, there seems to be no way out for Margarita.
Work was dismounted from the wooden frame, will be delivered rolled in the tube.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
